Dock. pugioniforme
or the Dagger Orchid as it is commonly known as, is an easy to grow and flower Australian native. the plant has a pendulous habit with the dagger like bulbs hanging down. the plants put out numerous flowers every spring time.
The plant on offer is 1 good sized plant mounted on a timber mount and is ONE SIMILAR to those shown in the photos which is showing the variations between plants.
We have hooks in the mounts for hanging BUT prefer to lay them flat so they stay more moist. When the plant outgrows this mount just sit it on top of another and pin it, and allow it to rambled down and across making a lovely specimen plant.
Care Instructions
Follow these detailed care instructions to keep your Elkhorn Fern thriving:
Mounting
Elkhorn ferns are epiphytic, meaning they naturally grow attached to trees. For best results:
- Mount on wood, cork, or similar materials
- Use sphagnum moss around the roots
- Secure with fishing line or plant-safe wire until established
Watering
Proper watering is crucial:
- Soak the root ball and shield fronds thoroughly when the moss feels dry
- Allow excess water to drain completely
- Reduce watering in winter
- Mist shield fronds occasionally
Light & Positioning
Place your fern where it receives:
- Bright, indirect light
- Protection from direct sun, especially midday
- Good air circulation
