Growing lithops, also known as "living stones," requires careful attention to their unique needs. Plant them in a well-draining inorganic mix or a potting soil blend with added sand or perlite to mimic their natural, rocky environment. Place the pots in a location with plenty of bright, indirect sunlight, as direct sun can scorch their leaves. Watering should be minimal; only water when the soil is completely dry, typically once every few weeks, and reduce watering during their dormant summer period. Lithops are winter growers. Overwatering is the most common mistake and can lead to root rot. With the right care, lithops can thrive and even produce beautiful, daisy-like flowers.
