  • Up for sale is a fantastic, highly collectible Euphorbia tubiglans native to South Africa.

  •

  • Unlike common cutting-grown clones which remain thin, this is a premium seed-grown specimen. It has developed a beautiful, fat, turnip-shaped underground caudex with deep mahogany and purple-grey undertones. The plant features three beautifully structured, upright mature branches showing clear 5-sided geometric rib lines and is currently pushing vibrant new growth from the crown.

  •

  • From the dried cyathia remnants, this plant is believed to be a female specimen, making it an essential addition for anyone looking to cross-pollinate and produce seeds for this hard-to-find variety.

  •

  • Sex: Appears Female (based on flower remnants)

  • Size: ~80mm+ total width (see caliper measurement photo)

  • Roots: Heavy, established tuberous caudex root system

  • Condition: Perfect, healthy, and hardened off in lava rock top-dressing.

Care Instructions

Follow these detailed care instructions to keep your Elkhorn Fern thriving:

Mounting

Elkhorn ferns are epiphytic, meaning they naturally grow attached to trees. For best results:

  • Mount on wood, cork, or similar materials
  • Use sphagnum moss around the roots
  • Secure with fishing line or plant-safe wire until established
Watering

Proper watering is crucial:

  • Soak the root ball and shield fronds thoroughly when the moss feels dry
  • Allow excess water to drain completely
  • Reduce watering in winter
  • Mist shield fronds occasionally
Light & Positioning

Place your fern where it receives:

  • Bright, indirect light
  • Protection from direct sun, especially midday
  • Good air circulation
