A striking succulent with loosely branching stems that are pencil-thin. The colours of the stems intensify from golden orange to copper tones in full sun, during winter.

Easy to grow, heat and drought tolerant but protect from frost, plant in well-drained soil. It grows to a maximum of 1.8m high but can be easily maintained at a much smaller size if needed.

Elkhorn ferns are epiphytic, meaning they naturally grow attached to trees. For best results:

  • Mount on wood, cork, or similar materials
  • Use sphagnum moss around the roots
  • Secure with fishing line or plant-safe wire until established

  • Soak the root ball and shield fronds thoroughly when the moss feels dry
  • Allow excess water to drain completely
  • Reduce watering in winter
  • Mist shield fronds occasionally
