Available in Bundles
This plant is also available in the following bundles.
A single rooted offset of Copiapoa cinerescens, well established on its own roots and grown under Australian conditions.
This plant is a vegetative clone taken from my mature mother plant, which was originally sourced from Rudolf Schulz over 20 years ago. It carries genuine Australian collector provenance and has been grown hard in a high-mineral substrate, resulting in a compact body, dense white radial spines, and attractive bronze central spines.
The plant shown is the exact plant for sale.
Care: Full sun to bright light, excellent drainage, and very sparing watering during the cooler months. A high-mineral cactus mix is recommended.
Care Instructions
Follow these detailed care instructions to keep your Elkhorn Fern thriving:
Mounting
Elkhorn ferns are epiphytic, meaning they naturally grow attached to trees. For best results:
- Mount on wood, cork, or similar materials
- Use sphagnum moss around the roots
- Secure with fishing line or plant-safe wire until established
Watering
Proper watering is crucial:
- Soak the root ball and shield fronds thoroughly when the moss feels dry
- Allow excess water to drain completely
- Reduce watering in winter
- Mist shield fronds occasionally
Light & Positioning
Place your fern where it receives:
- Bright, indirect light
- Protection from direct sun, especially midday
- Good air circulation
