Gymnocalycium 'Pink Diamond' This isn't just an ordinary Gymnocalycium; it is a "Cultivar" (cultivated variety) developed by Thai breeders that has gained worldwide fame.

Key Characteristics:

-Variegation of color. The most prominent feature is the blend of green, pink, orange, and yellow, often exhibiting a "scattered variegation" or sharply contrasting color bands.Brightness: A good Pink Diamond variety will have a sweet yet vibrant tone, like the gemstone in its name.

-Shape and RibsSharp and Deep Ribs: Notice the sharp, well-defined rib ridges, a characteristic of the mihanovichii group.

-Stripes: Clear transverse lines along the ribs add dimension to the pattern when the variegation is interspersed within those stripes.

-Spines and AreolesAreoles: Clean, white fuzz evenly arranged along the rib ridges.Spines: Short spines, slightly curved toward the stem, not overly dense, allowing the plant's surface pattern to be clearly visible.

-Flowering: As seen in the picture, flower buds are emerging. Typically, this Gymnocalycium variety produces light pink or creamy white flowers, further enhancing their beauty when in bloom.

Basic Care Guide:

-Sunlight: This cactus prefers morning sun (about 4–6 hours). Avoid placing it in harsh, direct midday sun, as the pink areas lack chlorophyll and can easily suffer from "sunburn" or skin scarring.

-Watering: Water only when the soil is completely dry (typically every 7–10 days, depending on your environment). Ensure there is no standing water in the pot to prevent root rot.

-Fertilization: Since it is starting to bud, you can apply a slow-release fertilizer (such as Osmocote) to provide the necessary nutrients for a healthy and complete bloom.

Care Instructions

Follow these detailed care instructions to keep your Elkhorn Fern thriving:

Mounting

Elkhorn ferns are epiphytic, meaning they naturally grow attached to trees. For best results:

  • Mount on wood, cork, or similar materials
  • Use sphagnum moss around the roots
  • Secure with fishing line or plant-safe wire until established
Watering

Proper watering is crucial:

  • Soak the root ball and shield fronds thoroughly when the moss feels dry
  • Allow excess water to drain completely
  • Reduce watering in winter
  • Mist shield fronds occasionally
Light & Positioning

Place your fern where it receives:

  • Bright, indirect light
  • Protection from direct sun, especially midday
  • Good air circulation
