Gymnocalycium Jellyfish is a highly sought after cultivar within the Gymnocalycium mihanovichii family. it has gained immense popularity among collectors due to its distinct, artistic features that set it apart from standard variegated Gymnos. Despite the name, it isn't soft like jelly; the name refers to its unique physical appearance that mimics the translucent, rythmic patterns of a jellyfish.

Distinctive Characteristics

- Rib structure: Unlike common Gymnos, the "Jellyfish" features low, flat, and wide ribs, The surface of the ribs appears smooth and tight.

- Graphic Striations: The highlight of this cultivar is the horizontal line pattererns (striations) crossing the ribs. These lines are sharp, organized, and closely spaced, resembling the textures or tentacles of a jellyfish.

- Coloration: Most "Jellyfish"specimens are variegated. They often display a sophisticated blend of dark green, orange, red, and yellow. When combined with the precise line patterns, the plant looks like a living piece of graphice art.

   - Body Shape: It tends to maintain a neat, compressed-globular (flat-round) shape, even as ot matures.

Care and Maintenace

Caring for a "Jellyfish" is similar to other variegated Gymnocalycium, with a few spacific considerations:

   - Light: Prefers filtered suinlight (50-70% shade cloth). While bright light enhances the colors, direct harsh sun can burn the delicate variegated skin and ruin the signature line patterns.

   -  Watering: Follow the "soak and dry" method. Only water when the soil is completely dry to prevent root rot.

   - Potting Mix: Use a highly porous, well-draining mineral mix to ensure adequate airflow to the roots.
