Astrophytum asterias, commonly known as the Star Cactus, is a small, distinctive cactus native to Mexico. It has a flattened, star-shaped body that typically grows to about 5 to 15 cm in height and 10 to 20 cm in diameter. Its surface is covered in unique white flecks, giving it a striking appearance.
To cultivate Astrophytum asterias, use a well-draining soil mix, such as cactus soil blended with perlite. Place it in bright, indirect light to promote healthy growth. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. During the growing season (spring to early summer), apply a diluted cactus fertilizer monthly. In winter, reduce watering and maintain a cooler environment (10–15°C) to mimic its natural conditions.
