Up for sale is a large, well-established Aloe irafensis measuring approximately 27cm wide from leaf tip to leaf tip.

This species is native to the mountains of Yemen and is highly sought after by collectors for its distinct, fan-shaped stacking habit and white-speckled foliage. It is very slow-growing and highly uncommon in the Australian hobby, especially at this size. A mature specimen like this rarely comes up.

This plant was grown by me from seed on its own roots. It has a strong, healthy root system and is fully acclimated to local conditions.

Key Details:

  • Species: Aloe irafensis (Yemen Endemic)

  • Size: ~27cm wide leaf span

  • Roots: Own roots (Seed-grown, not grafted)

  • Condition: Healthy, firm, and structurally symmetrical.

Care Instructions

Follow these detailed care instructions to keep your Elkhorn Fern thriving:

Mounting

Elkhorn ferns are epiphytic, meaning they naturally grow attached to trees. For best results:

  • Mount on wood, cork, or similar materials
  • Use sphagnum moss around the roots
  • Secure with fishing line or plant-safe wire until established
Watering

Proper watering is crucial:

  • Soak the root ball and shield fronds thoroughly when the moss feels dry
  • Allow excess water to drain completely
  • Reduce watering in winter
  • Mist shield fronds occasionally
Light & Positioning

Place your fern where it receives:

  • Bright, indirect light
  • Protection from direct sun, especially midday
  • Good air circulation
